Not to mention, these earlier titles feature gameplay mechanics that are little a more straight-forward than what this generation has brought fans of the series. Available only on last generation consoles, these entries in the Sam Fisher saga seem light years away from the much more hardened, on-edge versions of the one-man, goggled wrecking crew that has been portrayed by Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Splinter Cell: Conviction. The three games in question are Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Ubisoft has in fact confirmed this previously speculated news, but hasn’t shared any additional details. This time around it’s Sam Fisher and the original Splinter Cell trilogy of games that will receive the high definition makeover and be available for the PlayStation 3 in 2011. Don’t look now, but yet another gaming favorite is stepping into the salon for an HD beautification treatment.
